Assistive Technology (often abbreviated as AT) is a term for a piece of equipment, software, or product that can assist people with disabilities to perform tasks more easily or independently. Assistive technology promotes greater independence among individuals in areas that they are unable to accomplish without great difficulty. It is the University's goal to provide technology, where possible, that can assist guests and visitors with disabilities to fully participate in University services, programs, activities or events.
The Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) works collaboratively with the Schools, Colleges and Departments across the University in order to provide accommodations to guests and visitors with disabilities. Accommodations are reasonable adaptations and modifications in policies, practices, and procedures to ensure individuals with disabilities may fully participate in a service, program, activity or event.
Guests or visitors who may need an accommodation or are seeking information or assistance as related to a disability may contact the Office of Institutional Equity at 860-486-2943 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
